The hit CW show promises more changes as Elena and Damon find some common ground in upcoming episodes

LOCATION: Mystic Falls

THE SKINNY: At today’s Winter TCA press tour sessions for The CW, iF got the scoop on what to expect during the second half of Season One of their new hit show THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

As for the recent IMDB post about Elena (Nina Dobrev) becoming a vampire, executive producer Kevin Williamson says that “it’s a fake, not even close.”

He further explains, someone went on there, extrapolating elements from the book series and crediting it to the TV show, which is not the case.

However, Katherine’s ressurrection and The Tomb “is still in play.”

“Damon [Ian Somerhalder] has an agenda and he’s going to save Katherine,” says Williamson.

Upcoming spoilers include an episode where Damon and Elena have some alone time.

The Wrap

It wasn’t the easiest of falls for the CW, with its remake lineup of “90210” and “Melrose Place” struggling, and its once incendiary “Gossip Girl” losing significant buzz.

But the network still found plenty of momentum to highlight when its time came in Pasadena — with the casts and producers for upcoming family drama “Life Unexpected” and sci-fi/fantasy freshman hourlong “Vampire Diaries” addressing critics.

According to executive producer Kevin Williamson, “Diaries” — which seems a lock for a season 2 — has benefitted greatly from its Atlanta production location.

“I think we’re going to stay in Atlanta — Atlanta has been very good to us,” he said, noting the benefit of the Georgia state production credit. “We have an amazing crew down there that keeps delivering for us day after day. This is a great-looking show with a very polished look.”

For his part, actor Paul Wesley, who plays the dark, mysterious Stefan Salvatore on the series, said the youthful cast benefits from not having media-capital distractions around.

“We only have each other, and that shows up in the chemistry on screen,” he said.

“We’re not exposed,” concurred castmate Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore. “There’s no other media that we have access to.”

Fans of “The Vampire Diaries”: You can all breathe a sigh of relief! Those so-called “spoilers” floating around cyberspace that Elena will transition into a vampire when the drama returns Jan. 21 are a hoax.

“It’s fake,” insisted executive producer Julie Plec, during the “The Vampire Diaries” panel Saturday at TCA. “It’s completely not even close [to what will happen].”

Maybe in upcoming seasons?

“In like season 37,” Plec joked.

Don’t get too excited. There’s still no word whether the CW’s hit show will be picked up for a second season. In the meantime, here are some [real] tidbits about the rest of this season to sink your fangs into:

When we left things in the fall, Elena (Nina Dobrev) took off her vervain necklace, which protects her from Damon’s mind control. So what does this mean for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena?

“Now that the necklace is off, she’s very vulnerable,” said executive producer Kevin Williamson. “They will have some alone time. There’s no Stefan, so we’re going to explore what their relationship is like without him.”

But if you’re secretly hoping for a Damon and Elena romance, too bad. It’s not likely anytime soon. Damon will lock lips with Nina Dobrev … but she’ll be portraying Katherine.

Still think there’s a chance Vicki (Kayla Ewell) might rise from the dead? … well, there’s a better chance that vampires actually exist. Vicki is gone for good. But her brother Jeremy (Steven McQueen) will figure out the details surrounding her murder.

If the close-knit bond between Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) highlighted in “Lost Girls” made you long for more brotherly love … you’ll get your wish. The betrayal aspect of their relationship is explored — “There’s a certain level of trust that has been lost between these two brothers,” Williamson said. ”As the season progresses, their ‘flip-flop’ dynamic will be put to the test and Damon will finally have to step up and act like a big brother.”

And Elena and Bonnie’s relationship will “be tested” now that Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is aware that Damon and Stefan are vampires. Will Bonnie be “down with [vampires] or is she going to have a problem with it?”
Still craving more? “The Vampire Diaries” returns to the CW with new episodes on Jan. 21.
